M13
Great Globular in Hercules

10.1" reflector   43 x

Probably the best globular for Northern observers. Even at low power litterally hundreds of stars can be resolved.

North at 8 o'clock, East at 5 o'clock

10.1" reflector   96 x

Medium power shows many more stars again. Apparent size approximately 15'.

North at 7 o'clock, East at 4 o'clock

10.1'' reflector  Mallincam DS432cTEC
Exposures = 2.5 sec, Gain = 35/250, Live Stacked frames = 76

The combination of brightness and number of stars that resolve across the face of this globular is probably what's most impressive about M13. Distance listed as approximately 25,000 light years away.

North at 11 o'clock, East at 8 o'clock

10.1'' reflector  Mallincam DS432cTEC with 0.5 focal reducer
Exposures = 1.5 sec, Gain = 150/250, Live Stacked frames = 60

This image has a wider field of view with the focal reducer and the exposure had a higher gain, over-exposing the core and highlighting the extent of the cluster's dimmer outer edges. At the upper-left is NGC 6207, an 11th magnitude spiral galaxy.
