10.1'' reflector 231 x Very round, slightly concentrated toward the center, main concentration is approximately 4' across. Can see two stars at roughly 11 o'clock at the edge of the cluster, and another at 5 o'clock (an 8th magnitude star) which provide a nice frame within which the cluster resides. More towards the center can see a 'C' of stars shining brightly in the foreground; there seem to be a multitude of other stars across the face of the cluster at this magnification that are on the edge of resolvability, twinkling in and out, perhaps as many as 30 stars. This is a nice cluster, best viewed under medium to high powers. Listed as 15,000 light years away. North at 7 o'clock, East at 4 o'clock |
