M103 is the last of the original Messier list. It is a triangular-shaped
open cluster about 8' across that contains about 25 stars from 7th to 11th magnitude.
Others have described it as having an arrowhead shape or Christmas-tree
shape. The fields of view around this cluster
at 64x and 96x are star-filled. Three more star clusters, NGC 663, NGC
654, and NGC 659, lie within 2 degrees to the east. M103
lies 9200 light years away, is 15 light years across.
