M107 is a loosely concentrated globular cluster; the core is irregularly shaped, not as circular as most globulars. Also known as the Crucifix cluster, there is a discernable cross-shaped pattern of bright stars in the center-left portion of the core. M107 is listed at 21,000 light years away.
