M28
 globular cluster in Sagittarius

10.1'' reflector  96 x

Fairly low in the southern sky, M28 appears relatively unremarkable. Location in the sky, less than 20 degrees from the south horizon, along with poor transparency does not help. Average density towards the core for a globular cluster, the hazy extremities of the cluster appear to extend a little further beyond the 5' core size. The star appearing to the left of the cluster is magnitude 9. The cluster is located about 1 degree NW from Lambda Sagitarii. North at 6:30, East at 3:30.
