10.1'' reflector 144 x A smallish fuzzy patch at low power, this magnification captured it best. Appears fairly condensed, very uniform circular shape about 2-3' across. A 13th magnitude star to the NE edge of the cluster (lower right of the core) appears with averted vision. Star to the NW about 4' from the center of cluster is 9th magnitude (apparently barely visible to Messier when he recorded this cluster in 1780). North at 7 o'clock, East at 4 o'clock. |
