10.1'' reflector Mallincam DS432cTEC with Nebular filter Exposure = 20 sec, Gain = 50/250, Live Stacked frames = 80 The Croc's Eye is an unusual barred spiral galaxy with a double-ring structure. In the image above, multiple colours in concentric rings can be seen: a bright yellow inner core, wrapped in a thin orange one, surrounded by a light blue thicker ring, which is wrapped again in a firey-pink ring; and that is just the core! Surrounding this core structure is a diffuse outer ring that contains a subtle dark division in the middle of it. The galaxy appears to be about 2 arc minutes across at the core, and 6 minutes overall. North at 10 o'clock, East at 7 o'clock. |
