10.1" reflector   96 x  Speers-Waler ep with Nebular filter

A well-defined dim round disk about 3 degrees west from Beta Ursa Majoris (Merak). No evidence of the owl face that shows up on long-exposure photos. The entire disk is very evenly lit, appearing about 4' across. The 14th magnitude central star could not be seen.
