A dim hazy galaxy with an even distribution of light, located about 1 degree south of M81. Appears to be about 5' long. NGC 2976 is part of the M81 group of galaxies. In long-exposure photos, it appears as a mottled bunch of star clouds without a core or spiral arms, hence the spiral/irregular designation.
