Mercury in Virgo just before dawn. Lying about 10 degrees above the eastern horizon Mercury's image is difficult to resolve. Some low lying clouds near the horizon temporarily obscure it every few minutes. Can see it most sharply at low power 36x; seeing conditions are poor. Cannot see any phase on the planet (Mercury was slightly gibbous at this time and date).

Mercury makes a pretty grouping with Saturn and Venus in the East, along with a very old Moon nearing New Moon.
