10.1'' reflector Mallincam DS432cTEC Exposures = 2.5 sec, Gain = 35/250, Live Stacked frames = 82 M14 is a medium concentration globular, kind of similar to M13 only smaller and with less stars that resolve across the face. In this image the stars have an orange tinge that is reminiscent of M4; Burnham's reports "light loss due to strong absorption in this very dusty region of the Galaxy" which is a hint as to why the colours tend toward red. Distance to M14 is listed at about 30,000 light years away, about 5,000 light years further than M13. North at 7 o'clock, East at 4 o'clock |
