10.1'' reflector 144 x Similar to M69 only smaller, M70 is fairly dim and fairly condensed in the core, about 1.5 to 2' across. An interesting chain of stars leads northward. Star near the top left of center is 8th magnitude. The Herschels reported the stars in M70 as between 14th and 17th magnitude with a bright condensed center. This globular lies 34,000 light years away. North at 7 o'clock, East at 4 o'clock. |
